Having recently read Tom Segev's "One Palestine Complete" , I rushed to buy and read "A State at Any Cost".I'm glad that disappointment isn't fatal .The book exudes the contempt the author feels about Ben Gurion from the first to the last page.I don't mean that a biographer should be apologetic.Take any of Walter Isaacson's books and you will see a well succeeded effort to see the great man as he was, without erasing his flaws.Tom Segev doesn't do that . From page 1 he depicts Ben Gurion as a pitiful human being. His great achievements are a collateral.Besides that we have misquotes, self quotes stating opinions as facts , long streches where the author tells his oppinions about everything and his despise for zionism.This is not really a biography but a long and badly written diatribe.In spite of that, as Ben Gurion was such a great character, one will find interesting data on the book.Now I will try to find a good Ben Gurion biography, if it exists.
