[Possible small spoiler ahead]Art is still good, the colors good, anatomy [for the most part] good.This book follows the same story as in the second novel of the series, so the story is very good.My lower rating is because we're facing the same issue of comic building as we did in the first graphic novelization. It's not that the way they did this comic is bad necessarily. It's the fact that the buildup of the story feels very rushed. There aren't any proper transitions between the time frames. You don't have to separate things by chapter but you still should separate them with something to show us that we're changing areas, or time, or who the focus is now.One of the biggest things no-no's in comic making is bad transitions or no transitions. The worst offense of this occurred in this comic. Vlad reads his uncles newest letter and then later that night he has a nightmare. Now in between the end of the letter reading and the nightmare should be a transition, even a simple one, even if it's the most basic transition like fading off, there needs to be SOMETHING.Instead we get on the left hand page Vlad finishing the letter, on the right hand page we get the entirety of the nightmare. That's not ok, it's too incoherent, it's too all over the place. Those two scenes, while they do follow each other, should not be facing each other, and only be on 2 pages. It's just bad book planning. This is why we thumbnail an outline of how it should go, to make sure that we never put 2 scenes facing each other that are going to confuse the reader. It's the best process for finding out where transitions are needed, since it will let you see which scenes are gunna touch each other [by touching I mean one scene will be end on the left page and the other starts on the right page].If you can't place a transition between those 2 pages, stretching the scene on the left page a little more so that it ends on the right page, thus letting the next scene start on the next left page is an adequate way to handle moving from one scene to another without placing an actual transition in. It's so easy, and by stretching a scene you can make it more dynamic, you can add tension, you can add emotion. Instead we're just rushed right on through and it just makes me sad. We could have had an amazing adventure with so many details, so much tension, it could just be so much more than it is. And I wish it was.I figure the rushed story telling may be a reason why they stopped at 2 graphic editions instead of doing the full series. Maybe we could reboot it someday, give it a second chance. I still believe this can be an awesome comic.
